Carrying our Crosses
During this thing called life, hopefully I get wiser as I continue to travel on this journey. And I have been blessed to cross paths with so many people. As I think about the different personalities, the quirks, the differences in all of these folks, there is something that everyone shares: every single person has their crosses to carry. They may not call it that. Some may have bigger crosses than others. But they all are carrying it.
And people often forget this. That's because some are silent about their own crosses (some will let you know on every social media outlet). And to top it off, we have our own crosses to bear. So how do we deal with all of this? First, recognize that each and every person is a child of God and have to handle their own crosses in their own way. Smile and show empathy to others. Mother Teresa said “Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing." Focus on what others may be going through.
Finally, pray for others. Pray for that pain they are experiencing may go away. Pray that they may receive peace and comfort if that is what is needed. Pray for that miracle that may be needed. And pray that God's will may be done.
Jesus' life, from the time He was born, was a path to the Cross. But we also know that without the Cross, there is no Resurrection. So as we carry our crosses, pray that we may be given the strength to carry them, the help needed to sustain it on our shoulders, and the joy of knowing that He is with us every step of the way.

Spot on Rich! Thank you for sharing your perspective. It is so hard to watch thse we love go through trials and we want to help but don't know how. Sometimes praying doesn't feel like it is enough. Thank you for the reminder that it not only is enough but that it is everything. God never let's us carry our crosses alone. He is there for us just like He was there for His Son when He bore the ultimate cross for each of us. Julie Andersen
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting and sharing, Julie! We know He is a loving Father who is always there for us, no matter what. We just have to be open to it, which is so hard when we want to fix it ourselves.
