I had a dream the other night of my youngest as a kid and my mom. My youngest was about four and hadn't had a haircut in several weeks, so it was all curly and he was sitting by my mom and they were playing. I woke up, missing my mom as I usually do after dreams like this. But I also woke up missing the days I could just pick-up my kids and tickle them. Or when they would want to go for a ride with Dad to the local big-box hardware store because there was a chance we'd stop and hang out in the fort section and then get ice cream before dinner (dad would get scolded by mom). Today, I watched a video of my other son playing a piece on the organ. And he is getting those man arms. And my oldest has a beard! My boys are getting old.
Life doesn't slow down for anyone. A good friend wrote recently on her social media page: Seize each day with intentionality. Living fully present is a choice. This includes family but also includes your relationship with God. And prayer is an important part of that. I have fallen off the prayer wagon many times. The important part is you get back on.
I will continue to strive to live in the present with my family. I will also continue to live in the present with my kids, no matter what age they are. Maybe someday, we can go for rides again to the local big-box hardware store and then sneak off and get ice cream before dinner.

Absolutely!
